Construction activities near the Tappan Zee Bridge’s landings will require an additional overnight ramp closure of the New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) southbound/eastbound exit 10 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) on-ramp tonight. The closure is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. and conclude tomorrow at 5 a.m.
Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) will also continue construction activities near the bridge’s landings and abutments this week. The work follows the shift of the southbound/eastbound traffic lanes on the Thruway to the first span of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
These activities will require the use of machines to break pavement and cut deck panels near the old bridge’s abutments. TZC will utilize noise abatement measures in the area and continue to monitor noise and vibration levels as work continues.
The effort will require multiple overnight lane closures of southbound/eastbound lanes from exit 11 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) to exit 9 (Tarrytown – Sleepy Hollow – US Route 9) as well as the southbound/eastbound Thruway exit 10 on-ramp. Southbound/eastbound drivers will be detoured to the exit 11 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) on-ramp, shown below.
All four Rockland-bound (northbound/westbound) lanes will remain open during the operation. Updated lane and ramp closure times are listed in the chart below.
