Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) is scheduled to install steel girders at the second span’s Rockland approach next week. TZC will utilize mobile cranes to raise and place the girders.

Rockland Abutment Work
TZC is scheduled to temporarily close the southbound lane on River Road in South Nyack/Grand View to facilitate a concrete pour for the second span’s Rockland abutment on Friday, March 9, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., weather permitting. TZC will provide flagging support to provide access in both directions. School busses will be given priority throughout the closure period.

Maintenance and State Police Facilities
TZC is preparing to pour concrete for the new State Police facility in Tarrytown early next week. TZC will also continue installation of exterior wall panels at the Thruway Authority’s new maintenance building in Tarrytown.

Roadway Cleaning
TZC is scheduled to clean the outer lanes of the new bridge’s roadway during the morning and early afternoon of Monday, March 5. The work will require single-lane closures in each direction. Lane closure times are listed in the chart below.

Boaters are strongly encouraged to avoid the project site during the closures and to avoid the Regulated Navigation Areas, located east and west of the main channel.

Times and dates of the closures are subject to change and will appear in the U.S. Coast Guard’s weekly Notice to Mariners; on the project’s Twitter feed (@NewNYBridge); and broadcast on Marine Radio Channel 22A. Tappan Zee Constructors can be contacted via Marine Radio Channel 16 for assistance.

Rockland and Westchester marine units continue to patrol the project site.
