A renewed state and village partnership to determine the final alignment of — and parking for — the new bike and pedestrian path in Rockland continues to make progress. At a village board meeting on Tuesday, December 1, members of South Nyack’s Tappan Zee Bridge Task Force reported on concepts developed collaboratively with the New NY Bridge project team.
All of the concepts developed — two of which will be advanced for evaluation in an Environmental Assessment (EA) — reflect the state’s commitment to reduce impacts on local residents by routing the path and visitor parking directly to Interchange 10, while also not precluding the potential future redevelopment of the interchange. Earlier this year, the New NY Bridge Community Benefits Program awarded the village $250,000 for a study, currently underway, to explore economically sustainable redevelopment options for the area.
The project team welcomes your input on the concepts to be studied in the EA. There will be additional opportunities to comment after the publication of the EA this coming February and during community meetings to be held in March.
