No Work Scheduled on the New NY Bridge Project Over Memorial Day Weekend; Gps Info Re Construction Vessel Locations Now Available on Project Website

May 23, 2014

Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC will cease work on the New NY Bridge project for Memorial Day weekend after Friday operations are complete. Patrol vessels will remain on site Saturday through Monday to ensure the safety and security of the project area.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced a new GPS system to track construction vessels in the area of the New NY Bridge project. An interactive map showing vessel locations on the Hudson River is now available on the project website, NewNYBridge.com, for recreational and commercial boaters to get updated information on this very active construction zone.

The GPS tracking map is for informational purposes and not intended for navigation.  More New NY Bridge boater safety information, including the U.S. Coast Guard Notice to Mariners and construction site maps, can be found here.

Construction of the New NY Bridge will continue after the holiday with pile driving between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

A second shift of workers will also continue pile welding operations associated with permanent foundations.

Beginning again on Tuesday, marine crews will work from the shorelines of Rockland and Westchester counties, moving outward to place permanent foundation piles. Work on the foundations for the main span will continue as well. To learn more about the main span foundation and tower construction see the new “Bridge Rising” animation on NewNYBridge.com

Work will also continue on the Rockland and Westchester temporary work trestles near the county shorelines, including pile driving to install the temporary foundations needed to support the platforms. The trestles will support cranes for the construction of the eastern- and western-most sections of the new bridge.
