On Monday, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo toured the eastbound span of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and announced that the new roadway will open next month.
“I’m pleased to report that thanks to the tireless work of the women and men building the new bridge, the project will be completed in mid-September if Mother Nature cooperates,” Governor Cuomo said.
During his visit, the Governor received an update from New NY Bridge Project Director Jamey Barbas.
“People talked for decades about replacing the Tappan Zee Bridge and now we’re on the cusp of making history,” he said. “The new bridge will improve traffic flow and maximize the economic potential of the region, and is a symbol of New York’s ability to accomplish big things for the people of this state.”
