Embracing the giving spirit of the holiday season, Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC (TZC) and the New York State Thruway Authority partnered with several groups to provide food, clothes and presents for those less fortunate.
Locally, the project team collected more than 150 winter coats and other items for the Salvation Army, which will go to the underprivileged in Westchester and Rockland counties. Captain Giovanni Guerrero, corps officer at Tarrytown’s Salvation Army location, thanked TZC for the generous donations.
Thruway and TZC staff, as well as other project participants, donated more than 12 large boxes of non-perishable food items to Island Harvest, a food bank that provides services for people in need.
And upstate in Albany County, TZC’s team at the Port of Coeymans raised more than $4,000 to provide holiday cheer to disadvantaged families. The donations purchased more than 200 holiday gifts as well as clothes, diapers and gift cards for food.
