Construction progresses on the new Thruway Authority maintenance facility.

The Thruway Authority’s new maintenance building is taking shape at the foot of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge in Tarrytown.

Located adjacent to the westbound Thruway, the 26,000-square-foot building will allow emergency maintenance teams to quickly respond to vehicle breakdowns and maintenance needs on the new bridge and accompanying Shared-Use Path. Mechanics, welders, electricians and bridge maintenance crews will also be among the Thruway personnel to use the building.

Recent progress on the two-story building includes installation of wall panels, floor slabs, and HVAC and sprinkler systems.  Scheduled to be completed later this year, the structure will also include garage and repair bays for Thruway vehicles and equipment. Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) will equip these bays with vehicle lifts, exhaust capture systems and high overhead doors to accommodate taller vehicles – providing more room for service teams to get the job done.
