As 2016 comes to an end, the project team is looking forward to another year of progress on the twin-span replacement of the original Tappan Zee Bridge, including the completion of the westbound span.
This year, the project team accomplished numerous construction milestones, including: the placement of the final foundation piles, the switch to cashless tolling, the start of stay-cable operations and the completion of the iconic main span towers. The team is building on these accomplishments in 2017 with the upcoming completion of the westbound span and the transfer of traffic from the existing Tappan Zee Bridge.
